Cleaning Your Hardwood Floors

The cleaning and maintenance tips apply to wood floors sealed and finished with a clear protective coating such as polyurethane or factory pefinished UV coatings.

General cleaning of your wood floors is recommended once every 1-2 weeks. Floors subjected to heavy traffic should be cleaned on a more frequent basis.

STEP 1 — Vacuum or Sweep
Always vacuum or sweep to remove dirt and grit prior to cleaning your wood floors with a hardwood floor cleaning kit.

STEP 2 — Spray
Lightly mist an 8'x8' area of your wood floor, or directly mist the terry cloth cover of a mop, with hardwood floor cleaner.

STEP 3 — Wipe
Using a back and forth motion, clean the floor surface with your mop or a clean, soft cloth. Finish one area before moving on to the next. When your mop cover or cloth becomes soiled, replace with clean ones.

When a spill occurs, soak up the bulk liquid promptly. Mist the affected area with hardwood floor cleaner and clean with a mop or a clean, soft cloth.
